You're Not Stuck...

“Wait for and confidently expect the Lord;

Be strong and let your heart take courage;

Yes, wait for and confidently expect the Lord."

When the time is right, God will do it.
When the time is right, God will do it.

So you've done the work, and you're still feeling stuck...

That's not stuck... that's waiting... arguably just as frustrating and painful as being stuck.

When you're 'stuck', you're still repeating old cycles, old habits, old processed and mindsets... you haven't yet surrendered fully to God's progress and you feel like you're not going anywhere. You feel like there's no hope for breakthrough, no energy (because trust me when I say this is exhausting). In a nutshell... it's a lot.

When you're waiting, you've fully surrendered to God's process. You've let go of the old cycles, old habits and mindsets... you've decided to do the work, which is a process. You've probably made it to the end, passed the test (so to speak); you feel ready to take on the world in a sense but you're also still grossly exhausted from the wilderness season. You've chosen to believe the promise that God gave you. You've filled up with hope. Resting feels like warfare in itself, because, let's be honest here... your warfare hasn't been a season... it's felt like a lifetime. I could say a lot here, but in a nutshell... it's a lot.

So if you've put in the time and you've let God work on you, you might be feeling stuck and exhausted right now, but you're not stuck. You're waiting.

(Please note: If you're still trapped in old cycles, don't lose hope! It doesn't mean you've missed out or anything. It just means you might need to adjust your eyes so that you're focusing on God by reading His Word and staying focused on the path He has for you. Only He knows where you are, but He offers help and places people in our path to help in due time. This might mean going outside your comfort zone to get some help [e.g. through counselling]. If you feel alone in this, we do have a community you can be a part of. Our community will be there to encourage, study the Bible together, and pray with you while you're on this journey.)

So tempting it might be to reconnect with the alabaster jar full of pain and sorrow. Don't do it. There's nothing for you there. You've poured out your pain. You've given Him your trauma. You've committed to letting Him fight your battles, but they seem to be coming faster and in the form of increased fatigue and lack of hope... and the mind games that come with waiting. So if you're thinking of going back to that alabaster jar to cry over the past again... don't do it. It's empty sis. Now you're in the hard part... the part where your hands are empty. Void of the past that you've given to Jesus, and void of the promise that you're still waiting on. But no matter how tempting the memory of the leaks from Egypt might be right now (even if those leaks look like pain that's familiar), DO NOT ENGAGE!

Can you imagine how Joseph must have felt? In a place he didn't belong. Living in the opposite of the promise. God showed it to him, but there he was... 13 years stewing in the opposite of what God showed him. He was the one bowing down to people. He wasn't the greatest; he was the lowest. A nobody to others, though the promise indicated that he might be a somebody. But you see, God was with him - preparing him, working on him, training him. God planted Joseph in plain sight. The same land that oppressed him is the same land that God raised him in... slowly fashioning his best kept secret - a well-prepared man with a solution that the nation needed.

What is God doing in you while you wait? Don't waste the waiting season. God's doing more in you than you think. You're His best kept secret, and you need to know that you're not alone. Are you going to cry? Yes. Are you going to want to give up? Yes. Are you tired right now... probably seconds from bursting into tears half the time? Probably. Is it going to be rosy? No. But it will be worth it.

Your solution to your bloodline's issues, your household's troubles, a broken people that God intends to set free through you... that purpose you've felt deep within but that feels so far away right now... the dream you thought you had for your marriage, business, children, life, that seems to have fallen flat on the ground when you tried it... that carries weight. That means that you need to wait. Wait for God to move in His time, in His way, for His purpose.

It might just be that you're in a Job moment where God is showing off with you. The pain we experience isn't only our own, you know. God saw you as one who could handle this journey; one who could take the pressure and stay faithful. He knows you can do it; don't throw in the towel, my dear. Make God proud. He sees you.

Whatever your situation - whether you're a Joseph or a Job - I encourage you not to wait for the breakthrough, the next season, the next thing. Wait on the Lord. Wait on Him. Keep your eyes on Him. The pressure might be so much right now, and to might be feeling the sting of being the one that God has chosen to take through this journey with Him. To much is given, much is required, but we can't last if we're not connected to the Vine. My encouragement to you is to wait on God - wait for His comfort, seek His face, cry out to Him when it hurts, say the words aloud, "I trust you," when it doesn't make sense. But whatever you do, don't give up... don't grow apathetic. Wait on Him to renew your strength.

I know you can make it, and I'm cheering you on. Heaven is cheering you on even louder. And guess what?... the One that trusted you with this journey is cheering even louder, watching from a much closer distance than you think... mighty proud of the faith you have in Him. God is a God of precision, timing, and perfection. He knows what He's doing. Allow Him to keep refining and preparing you. He's right there with you the whole time, too!

You're close. Hold on - God's got you. Allow Him to be your strength and keep waiting. May the Lord help us to wait well.
